The beach area will then be closed 4PM-6PM to get ready for our Beach Party event. Doors will open for the 311 Beach Party at 6PM. There is a bar and grill at the beach, and a DJ will spin tunes. The Wailers will take the stage at 7:30pm, followed by another DJ playing party music. The party will end at 11:00pm. This will be an incredible time together!”

6 WEEEEEEEKS!!!

January 28th, 2010

Woohoo! Only 6 weeks til the best day of the year :)

So…I was thinking about setting a time and place for a bunch of us on here to meet up, if people are interested. I would love to meet you guys in Vegas!!

I was thinking that Wednesday March 10th might be best, since people might be trying to get to the show/get in line on the 11th kinda early, and at all different times.

The Fan Party starts at 9PM on Wednesday, so I was thinking about meeting at the bar outside by the pool at Mandalay around 6 or 7PM?? Then people that are going to the Fan Party can head over there together. If we just meet at Mandalay, we can decide if we want to go somewhere else to get drinks or whatever.

So, how does Wednesday the 10th at 6 or 7pm sound? Or does someone else have another idea?

311 Day Stats :: 2000 - 2008

January 24th, 2010

Ever wonder how many times certain songs have been played at past 311 Days, or which songs have yet to be played live at 311 Day? Many thanks to Mike Leake for putting together this awesome spreadsheet that shows how many times the songs from each album have been played at 311 Day, and which songs 311 has yet to debut at the event!

Check it out! The number after the song title indicates at how many 311 Day shows the song has been played. Songs in red have never been played at a 311 Day show.

I looked this over a bit and tweaked a few things and everything looks great, but please let me know if you see anything that needs to be changed for any reason. Thanks again, Mike - this is getting me more excited for the show!!!

311 Day Dream!!!

January 21st, 2010

I just had this awesome dream about 311 Day and felt compelled to write it all out and post it here so I don’t forget it! Hey, it’s a slow 311 news day anyway! ;)

FYI, I’m about to write every detail I remember…it’s gonna get long!

So, it started out at some hotel that wasn’t even in a big city…I don’t even know who was there, but I think my friends Dan and Glen were there. It got to be early evening so I was thinking about leaving for the show soon, but it seemed like no one else wanted to. I got ready and went out to my car, which was in a driveway, surrounded by snow…I started to try to get out of the parking spot when my mom came out and said I had some dent in the back of my car from running into an icy snowbank or something. I got out and looked and didn’t see anything, but instead noticed that I had no front bumper anymore! And it wasn’t really the car I have now, it looked more like my old car. Very strange…

So I drove over to the venue by myself (?!) and still have no idea what city it was in…but it was snowy so I remember thinking it took forever to get there even though it was pretty close. As I was almost there, I realized I had forgotten my show ticket, wallet AND camera!!! But the show started in about an hour and it took so long driving, that I didn’t want to turn around. I decided I’d rather have a close spot and not miss any of the show than go back, and came to terms with the fact that I wouldn’t be able to drink, buy anything or take any pics or videos. =(

I also realized I would probably have an issue getting in to the show…! So I turned in to what looked like the back entrance of the venue and followed some semis that were going back there. Then I got to a point where my car couldn’t fit through some opening, so I decided to just leave it there and run over to the venue. I walked around the back trying to find where to go in and some old guy stopped me to give me a piece of paper…it looked like a long receipt and I thought at first it was the 311 Day setlist. It turned out it was a WEEN setlist and he said I could get in to the show with that…? I said OK and ran towards the doors!

On my way I ran in to my friend GUS who was hanging around back there for some reason…I think some other fans were too, probably hoping to see the band or something. I went up to the door and they asked for my ticket, I showed them the setlist (didn’t even unfold it) and they let me in! OOOK!

So I run in and it’s this TINY theater…I go up to the front looking for a seat as close as I can get, figuring the pit will be packed…but there is NO ONE in the “pit” area which is super tiny, and the stage was super tiny too!! The seats were pretty full besides the front 5 rows or so…I was so confused. So I went up and claimed my favorite spot on the rail right in between Nick and SA. I couldn’t beleive it! I remember being so mad I didn’t have my camera, I could have gotten such amazing pics and videos! I also realized this would be the first 311 Day I would be completely sober at, which was kinda weird, but thought it would be cool to remember every single song and thing about it. :o

A crew was setting some stuff up on the stage, but it wasn’t 311’s crew…then I remembered I had this WEEN setlist and sure enough WEEN was gonna open! I was so excited!! A few more people came up on the rail, but barely any…for some reason my friend Elliott from high school was there! Very random. There were also two other guys that kept standing really close to me/crowding me even though there was tons of room…I think they wanted to be in pretty much the exact same spot I was, and I was worried I was gonna end up too far on P-Nut’s side! So stupid…finally Dean Ween came out and was gonna start the show! He came out in a red graduation gown…wtf?!

Right at this point my niece woke me up! I was so mad! Haha. But I woke up with the WEEN song “Even If You Don’t” in my head, so maybe that’s what they opened with. I remember not wanting to look at the setlist so I would be surprised.

So yeah, that’s about it…I don’t know why I had this dream, but I can think of 2 things…last 311 Day I made the mistake of looking at the setlist at the beginning of the second set…I almost didn’t do it, but I just wanted to see if they were gonna play LFTF. I realized they weren’t, and was kinda sad, and then Livin’ & Rockin’ wasn’t a surprise. =( I think I also saw that Paradise was gonna be the closing song, but thought that was too weird, so thought maybe they didn’t list the encore songs on the setlist? Luckily I didn’t remember all the songs or the order so it wasn’t terrible, but I will never do that again!!

I also maybe dreamt about WEEN because I was gonna go see Gene Ween’s solo show in Madison but totally forgot about it…I was afraid I missed it, but just looked it up and it’s on Feb. 11th. =D

I can’t believe I just typed all that out! Oh well!

Which UPLIFTER world premiere do you want to hear most at 311 Day 2010?
